How to Apply – Àsìkò 2025
1. Check Your Eligibility
Àsìkò 2025 is open to:
- Artists working in any medium (painting, photography, video, performance, etc.)
- Curators, writers, and cultural practitioners
- Applicants from Africa and the African Diaspora
Requirements:
- Artists: Minimum 3 years professional practice
- Curators/Writers: Minimum 2 years experience
- Must not have participated more than once before
2. Prepare Your Application Materials
Before applying, ensure you have:
- Updated CV
- Artist/Curatorial Statement (your practice, interests, direction)
- Portfolio (up to 5 works – images, video, or audio)
- Project Idea / Intent (optional but recommended)
- Reference contacts (required)
3. Complete the Application Form

- Incomplete applications may not be considered
4. Application Timeline
- Open Call: Nov 27, 2024 – Jan 19, 2025
- Programme Dates: April 27 – May 25, 2025
- Location: Cairo, Egypt
5. Selection Process
- Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a video interview
- Final participants are selected by the Àsìkò team and advisors
6. After Acceptance
Successful applicants must:
- Confirm availability for the full programme duration
- Participate in pre- and post-programme virtual sessions
- Pay the participation fee before the deadline
7. Programme Costs
- $850 USD (International participants)
- $450 USD (Egypt-based participants)
Includes:
- Programme access
- Accommodation (for non-residents)
- Lunch during sessions
Does NOT include:
- Travel costs
- Personal expenses
8. Funding & Scholarships
- Partial scholarships available (up to 50% or 100% for locals)
- Applicants are encouraged to seek external funding early
